Re: Layers of simulation, and in what order to make things

I thought this was a great summary. I'd even call it something like a "pyramid of simulation" where each level above is supported by the level below. We kind of have the basic provisional geologic component done, so now we need to sort moisture. I'm probably going to, again, go for something relativ...

Re: SOTE Development Diary and Updates

Okay, so over the past week I've been working on procedural map generation for SotE, mainly as it pertains to elevation. I'm still dealing with the learning curve obviously, but so far we've managed to create a tile grid along with a number of pertinent variables. The one I've spent a lot of time on...

Re: The Calandiel/David joint plan.

Alright, doesn't sound too complicated. Maybe I'll write a little more code in C# and then make the switch. It might sound like a waste, but I kinda want to be able to rewrite a nice chunk of the code in C# as a means to practice.

Re: The Calandiel/David joint plan.

Okay, so Linux possible rather than Linux mandatory. Yes, and that's so that I can actually help you with coding... I'm wondering though how one uses C++ with Unity. As I described above: compile the C++ code into a DLL, and use that from the interface code (which is in C# and uses unity). I think ...

I think I remembering reading that there was a pluggin or something to that effect, but also heard that there were a few confounding issues. Granted, I haven't done a heck of a lot of research on it.

Re: The Calandiel/David joint plan.

Okay, so it sounds "ideal" but not necessarily initially practical for me, because it sounds like having to halt the learning process, learn Linux, learn C++, learn how to adapt it to Unity, and then dealing with anything else along the way that was unanticipated. I know you would like to go full st...

Re: The Calandiel/David joint plan.

Sounds like a good long term objective, but a few questions: when did you think the best time to implement was? Also, what's the advantage of Linux? Never used it myself.

Re: Civilized Tiles, Wilderness Tiles, and the Nature of "Edge Ecology"

You can be biologically disposed to something without that disposition being innately psychological. While competing with all manner of other forces, elves are simply more likely to end up in defensible places like forests, and thus end up developing forest cultures.

Re: Provinces: Layer on Layer action!

Maybe these could be a parameters in the world generation =D. This all sounds top-hat beaver to me. Getting a climate model and everything that follows right is difficult enough with earth as an example. Ungrateful to say from the outside, but my opnion would be that astronomic factors would be sim...
